Dr. Meehan is a board certified Diplomat and Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
Dr. Joan Meehan founded Clayton Medical Associates in 1988. She is proud to have worked with patients in the Clayton area for over 30 years. After receiving her undergraduate degree from North Carolina State University in 1980, Dr. Meehan completed her medical degree from Ohio University’s College of Medicine in 1984. She completed her internship in Cleveland, OH and did her residency in Family Practice at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Youngstown, OH, before returning to North Carolina.

Dr. Meehan maintains staff privileges at WakeMed Raleigh & Johnston Memorial Hospital and is an Associate Clinical Professor at University of North Carolina School of Medicine and Campbell University.
Dr. Meehan lives in Raleigh with her husband, Joe, and their springer spaniels. She enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, reading and traveling.
